Web Addiction 1

There are some things you should never measure.

In particular, never measure how much time you spend reading websites instead of working. But after reading so much about organization, efficiency and metrics, it seemed so logical. And easy… set up a Squid server, hook up the browser as a proxy, and then analyze the logs to see where time is spent.

Eeeesh.

I’ve downloaded Squidguard and blocked Orkut, Slashdot and Salon from myself during work hours. I looked for a URL filter that could deny access to a website based on the time of last access (i.e. 5 minutes of Slashdot every two hours during work hours) but Squidguard has time-based filtering, which should do just as well.

I so want to play a computer game.

    That’s rad.

I got hungry when I read about the scripts on the “Calamaris” page.
